The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
