The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
