The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
