The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
