So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
