And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
