The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
