The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
