The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
