The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
