Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
