The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
