Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
