The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a great day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
