Hizb 46
< random >
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 They used to say: 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the apostles: 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends upon their courtyards, evil will be the morning of those forewarned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
