The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
