The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
