And verily it is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
