The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
