The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
