The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
