The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do people think that once they say, "We believe," they will be left alone and not be put to the test? 2 And assuredly We have tempted those who were before them. So Allah will surely know those who are true and He will surely know the liars. 3 Do the evil-doers think they can escape Us? How terrible is their judgment? 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 He who strives, strives for himself. Allah is the Rich, independent of the worlds. 6 And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. 7 And We have enjoined on man kindness unto parents. But if the twain strive to make thee associate with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall declare unto you that which ye have been working. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 Some men there are who say, 'We believe in God,' but when such a man is hurt in God's cause, he makes the persecution of men as it were God's chastisement; then if help comes from thy Lord, he will say 'We were with you.' What, does not God know very well what is in the breasts of all beings? 10 And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites. 11 And the disbelievers said to the Muslims, “Follow our path and we will bear your sins”; whereas they will not bear anything from their sins; they are indeed liars. 12 They will certainly carry their own burdens and other burdens besides their own. They will assuredly be called to account on the Day of Resurrection concerning the fabrications which they contrived. 13
