Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, "Satan has afflicted me with distress and suffering." 41 (Allah said to him): "Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink." 42 And We bestowed his household to him and one more similar to it – as a mercy from Us, and as a remembrance for the people of intellect. 43 (We said to him): 'Take a bundle of rushes and strike with it; and do not break your oath' We found him to be patient, a good worshiper and he was penitent. 44 AND CALL to mind Our servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, [all of them] endowed with inner strength and vision: 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding. 48 This is a Reminder, and indeed for the cautious is a fine return, 49 Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them. 50 Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, 51 ۞ And with them shall be those restraining their eyes, equals in age. 52 This is what you are promised for the day of reckoning. 53 Verily this is Our provision: there will be no ceasing thereof. 54 All of this; but, for the proud there is an ill return. 55 They shall roast in (the Fire) of Gehenna, an evil cradling. 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 and other sufferings of the kind. 58 [Its inhabitants will say], "This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire." 59 But they will say: 'No, it is you that has no welcome. It was you who brought it upon us, an evil place' 60 They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" 61 They say, 'How is it with us, that we do not see men here that we counted among the wicked? 62 Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?” 63 Such, behold, will in truth be the [confusion and] mutual wrangling of the people of the fire! 64
