Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a high Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
