In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
