Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
