Say, “Shall we worship, other than Allah, that which neither benefits us nor harms us, and (therefore) be turned back after Allah has guided us, like one whom the devils have led astray in the earth – bewildered? His companions call him to the path (saying), ‘Come here’”. Say, “Indeed only the guidance of Allah is (the true) guidance; and we are commanded to submit to the Lord Of The Creation.” 71 And to establish worship and be dutiful to Him, and He it is unto Whom ye will be gathered. 72 And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth with truth, and on the day He says: Be, it is. His word is the truth, and His is the kingdom on the day when the trumpet shall be blown; the Knower of the unseen and the seen; and He is the Wise, the Aware. 73 ۞ Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error." 74 And thus did We show Abraham the realm of the heavens and the earth that he would be among the certain [in faith] 75 When the night covered him over, He saw a star: He said: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set." 76 When he saw the moon rising, he said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it set he said, 'If my Lord does not guide me I shall surely be of the people gone astray.' 77 And when he saw the sun uprising, he cried: This is my Lord! This is greater! And when it set he exclaimed: O my people! Lo! I am free from all that ye associate (with Him). 78 I have turned my face to Him who originated the heavens and the earth, a man of pure faith; I am not of the idolaters.' 79 His. people remonstrated with him whereupon Abraharn said: 'Do you remonstrate with me concerning Allah Who has guided me to the right way? I do not fear those whom you associate with Allah in His divinity. Only that which my Lord wills, indeed that alone will come by. My Lord embraces all things within His knowledge. Will you not take heed? 80 And how should I fear what you associate while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority? So which of the two parties has more right to security, if you should know? 81 Those who believe and obscure not their belief by wrongdoing, theirs is safety; and they are rightly guided. 82
