Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
