The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
