Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
