The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 For you, O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him, are in this city. 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
