The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
