The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
