The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
