The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ta-Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Book luminous. 1 A guidance and good tidings for believers 2 who are steadfast in prayer, who pay the religious tax, and who have strong faith in the life hereafter. 3 As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds seem attractive to them so they stumble around in perplexity. 4 It is they for whom is the worst punishment, and they will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 Thou receivest the Koran from One All-wise, All-knowing. 6 (Recount to them) when Moses said to his family: "I perceive something like fire: soon will I bring to you some information from there, or I will bring you a burning brand that you may warm yourselves." 7 But when he reached it, a voice called out: "Blessed is He who is in the fire and all around it. Praised be God, the Lord of all the worlds. 8 [And God spoke thus:] "O Moses! Verily I alone am God, the Almighty, the Wise!" 9 Now cast your rod!" But when he saw the rod writhing as though it were a serpent, he turned his back in retreat and did not even look behind. "O Moses, have no fear. Messengers have no fear in My presence, 10 except he who has done evil, then, after evil, has changed into good. I am the Forgiving, Most Merciful. 11 Thrust thy hand in thy bosom and it will come forth white without evil-among nine signs to Pharaoh and his people; they are an ungodly people.' 12 But when Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came to them, clear to see, they said: "This is a manifest magic." 13 They denied those Signs out of iniquity and arrogance although their hearts were convinced of their truth. So see how evil was the end of those mischief-makers! 14
