Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth] 77 And We left for him among the posterity. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! 79 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Thereafter We caused the others to be drowned. 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 (Remember when) he came to his Lord with a pure heart; 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 Do you want to worship false idols as your lords besides God? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 And he cast a glance at the stars, 88 and said: 'Surely, I am sick (of what you worship)' 89 so they turned their backs on him and went off. 90 Then he slipped unto their gods and said: eat ye not? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. 93 So the people descended upon him. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Let us build a fire and throw him into the flames". 97 And they designed a snare for him, but We made them the undermost. 98 He said, 'I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 “My Lord! Give me a meritorious child.” 100 whereupon We gave him the glad tiding of a boy-child gentle [like himself]? 101 and when he had reached the age of running with him, he said, 'My son, I see in a dream that I shall sacrifice thee; consider, what thinkest thou?' He said, 'My father, do as thou art bidden; thou shalt find me, God willing, one of the steadfast.' 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him, 'Abraham, 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And We left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 108 Peace be upon Abraham. 109 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 110 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 And We blessed him, and Isaac; and of their seed some are good-doers, and some manifest self-wrongers. 113
