And indeed, We delivered the children of Israel from the shameful suffering 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Even then they say: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
