Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

HA MIM. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
