The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
