The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
