The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 and taught to him 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
