Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to mortal man 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
