The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The time of reckoning has drawn near for mankind, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 "Nay," they say: "[Muhammad propounds] the most involved and confusing of dreams!" "Nay, but he has invented [all] this!" - "Nay, but he is [only] a poet!" - [and,] "Let him, then, come unto us with a miracle, just as those [prophets] of old were sent [with miracles]?" 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 Now We have revealed unto you a Scripture wherein is your Reminder. Have ye then no sense? 10
