And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
