The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
