The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
