Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

Greed for more and more distracted you [from God] 1 Until ye visit the graves. 2 Yes certainly, you will soon realise! 3 You shall cetainly know (about the consequences of your deeds). 4 Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things) 5 Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)! 6 Again, indeed you will see it with certainty. 7 On that Day, you shall be questioned about the pleasures. 8

True are the words of God the Almighty.
