The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
