The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the people of the right hand 38
