The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
